Penistone Grammar School is a large co-educational secondary school located in Penistone, South Yorkshire, serving 2000 people, which includes 200 staff.
A customer of One Connectivity since 2017, Penistone School has trusted us to support them with their phone system and communication projects over the last 8 years. Most recently in upgrading to a full cloud solution to help improve both internal and external communications.
When Penistone School first came to us in 2017, they were still using an old PBX solution on digital lines which was increasingly expensive combined with temperamental power issues. Addressing this at the time we removed the system, replacing it with a SIP solution along with a Unified Communications solution. As time passed, the schools’ communication requirements changed and their handsets were no longer meeting the communication demands and goals of the school.

As a large school, effective communication is essential to support the education and welfare of students. Their current phone system was not able to meet the school’s goal of improving the quality of communication with parents and families. To achieve this goal, they needed every teacher to have the ability to easily communicate internally and with parents and families.

Since 2017, we have formed a close relationship with Penistone Grammar school, and from the first installation of our UC solution back then to this latest project, they have been impressed with the solutions, support and service we have provided to ensure they achieve what they need.
We upgraded the schools phone system to a full cloud solution which included a range of both handsets and soft phone for staff laptops, call analytics and iPECS One packages.
We replaced the schools 9000 series handsets with 1000 series handsets, totalling 75 across the school with specific ones just for the reception team. From planning to implementation, we deployed the new system efficiently and within 6 weeks, all with minimal disruption to their daily operations.

Parents have commented on how much they have liked the regular and more personalised communication – something which would not have been achievable without introducing soft phones on every teacher’s laptop.
