Why we’ve partnered with SafeWeb

Cybersecurity is an issue on everyone’s minds right now. It feels like every day we hear about another global company being breached. It’s understandable to be anxious, especially considering the impact that stolen data can have on not just a business’s bottom-line, but their reputation as well.

We recognise that concern at One Connectivity. It’s why we’ve launched our new SafeWeb service to our customers. I think it could go a long way to addressing a huge range of threats and offer our customers the peace of mind they deserve.

What is SafeWeb?

SafeWeb is a dark web monitoring tool. What does this mean though? I’ll break it down.

The dark web is a vast area of the internet that is inaccessible using traditional search engines. To access it, you’ll normally need a service like Tor. The dark web is a hub for a huge amount of illegal activity. This includes the buying and selling of stolen business data. As accessing the dark web is so tricky, it’s usually near impossible to find out if your data has been leaked there.

This can create a lot of problems for businesses. The data traded on the dark web includes everything from passwords to customer credentials to financial information. Inevitably this data falls into the hands of cybercriminals who are then free to exploit businesses however they like.

The issue lies in knowing what business data has been leaked in the first place. This is where SafeWeb comes in.

SafeWeb routinely and automatically scans the dark web, notifying businesses when their data is discovered. The business can then act by changing the at-risk password or credential.

Why is it so valuable?

For too long, businesses have been on the back foot when it comes to their cybersecurity. Too many solutions tend to be based around recovering data after it has already been lost, rather than preventing the problem in the first place. SafeWeb takes the fight to the hackers. It’s not just a bandage over a breach – it stops breaches before they happen.

Because SafeWeb is working constantly in the background, rather than just running scans weekly or monthly, it catches threats before they can escalate. With cyber attacks getting more advanced by the day, time is always of the essence.

Why now?

With the rising threat of cyber attacks, now was the natural time for the OC team to put our technology experience into practice to protect our customers. SafeWeb is just one of the ways we’re helping our customers protect their businesses.
